This is a Modular Layout with 3 global DC
power supplies controled by Aristo® Radio controls, a DCC power supply controled
by NCE® DCC and each panel has it's own local tethered
DC supply for local
switching operations. Any of the 5 supplies can be applied to each of the
colored sections of the track, or turned off by the rotary switches. Some
sections also have block toggle switches, notice "Bridge Corner" Red Blue and
Green Lines. Other toggle switches operate stall motors on the turnouts and have
an LED indicator which is on if the turn out is diverging. Power enters the
box by an Amphenol® connector,
Track power exits the box through 8 and 10 pin
Jones connectors (these are getting hard to get), and turnout control exits the
box through 25 pin DB (rs232) conntctors. Connectors are not needed for a
stationary layout, I would install Barrier strips to facilitate changes but
reduce cost.
These were built in 2000, and the boxes get a little beatup moving them around,
but the graphics still look as good as new.
